Earlier this month at its fall membership conference in Asheville, N.C., the Home Builders Association of Georgia (HBAG) installed its new officers for 2017-2018. Jim Brown, owner of JWB Properties, LLC and a member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA), is the new vice president of HBAG, which has about 3,400 members statewide, he said. The Atlanta chapter, the largest in the state, has almost 1,000 members, Brown said.
He recently spoke with Atlanta Business Chronicle about the roles of state and local home building associations, how politics plays a role in home building, and how lifestyle changes among home buyers are changing how homes are built today. The conversation has been edited for space and clarity.
